2. Classification by production process
1. Weft knitted fabric
Weft knitted fabrics are woven on various weft knitting machines with flat knitting, variable flat knitting, rib flat knitting, double rib flat knitting, jacquard knitting, terry knitting, etc. It can be formed with at least one yarn, but in order to improve production efficiency, it is usually knitted with more than one yarn.
2. Warp knitted fabric
Warp knitted fabric cannot be made from one yarn. It needs to be made of a plurality of yarns in a loop simultaneously along the longitudinal sequence of the surface of the cloth. This is because one yarn can only form a chain formed by one loop. Warp knitted fabric has the advantages of good longitudinal dimensional stability, crisp fabric, small dispersion, no crimp, good air permeability, etc., but its lateral extension, elasticity and softness are not as good as weft knitted fabric.
